NOTHING BUT NYLON
- The Duquesne women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in 2026, when it travels to Dayton for an Atlantic 10 contest on Saturday, Jan. 3 inside UD Arena.

- The Dukes returned to Atlantic 10 action on Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 31), dropping a 72-62 decision to Saint Louis inside UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

- Trailing by as many as 13 points with 9:46 remaining in the fourth quarter, Duquesne pieced together a 10-2 run to pull within 55-50 at the 5:25 mark.

- Sophomore Kellie McConnell ignited the surge with a floater, followed by a layup from fellow sophomore Nadia Moore and a driving finish from freshman Alexis Bordas. After Saint Louis knocked down a pair of free throws, junior Reina Green kept the momentum going with a jumper, and sophomore Faith Walker capped the spurt with a turnaround jump shot.

- Later in the quarter, the Dukes again closed the gap, trailing 61-54 before Bordas buried a right-wing three to cut the deficit to four with two minutes remaining in regulation. That would be as close as Duquesne would get, however, as the Billikens closed the game on an 11-5 run to secure the victory.

- Despite shooting just 1-of-6 (16.7 percent) from the field in the fourth quarter, Saint Louis proved decisive at the foul line, converting 19-of-24 free throws (79.2 percent) in the final period. The Billikens finished the game 24-of-29 (82.8 percent) from the charity stripe.

- For the fourth time this season, Duquesne placed four players in double figures, led by Nadia Moore. Playing in her first game since Nov. 6, Moore posted a team-high 15 points on 50.0 percent shooting (7-of-14) from the field while adding three rebounds.

- Freshman Alexis Bordas followed with 14 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, and led the team with three steals while also dishing out two assists. Sophomore Harriet Ford finished with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting (45.5 percent) from the floor, to go along with four rebounds and two assists.

- Junior Reina Green rounded out the quartet in double figures with 10 points, a team-high six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

The Series vs. Dayton – A series that dates back to 1993, the Dukes and Flyers will square off for the 51st time come Saturday afternoon. Dayton holds a 26-24 edge in the all-time series while capturing an 80-71-win last season in Pittsburgh. Duquesne trailed 59-57 heading into the final quarter before Dayton pushed its lead to 62-59 with 8:46 remaining in regulation. Hutcherson would tie the score with a triple before the Flyers broke the contest open with an 11-0 run, pushing their lead to 73-62 with just 4:17 remaining. Dayton went 4-fo-5 from the field during the stint, led by Rikki Harris. The Dukes would make a final push, responding with seven unanswered to cut the deficit, 73-69. Nadia Moore sparked the run with a layup, followed by a triple, a steal, and a layup all from McConnell. Dayton unfortunately would stem the tide, ending the contest by scoring seven of the final nine points to secure the win. Jerni Kiaku finished with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal while Megan McConnell ended with 15 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Gabby Hutcherson totaled 13 points and four rebounds while Andjela Matic finished with 10 points, two triples, and two rebounds.

Scouting The Flyers – Dayton enters Saturday with a 7-6 overall record and an 0-2 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers saw their two-game winning streak snapped on New Year's Eve with a 74-59 loss at George Mason. The offense is paced by Nayoa Lear, who ranks sixth in the A-10 at 16.3 points per game and leads the conference with a 51.9 field-goal percentage. Lear has scored in double figures in 11 games this season, including four 20-point performances. Fatima Ibrahim is second on the team in scoring at 8.6 points per game and leads the Flyers with 6.8 rebounds per contest. She is shooting better than 57.0 percent from the floor and has grabbed six or more rebounds in 11 games. Ibrahim also ranks second in the A-10 and 23rd nationally with more than two blocks per game, while her 27 total rejections rank 25th in the country. Nicole Stephens ranks third on the team with 8.2 points per game and sits sixth in the conference with a 1.31 assist-to-turnover ratio. As a team, Dayton is shooting 43.9 percent from the field, third best in the A-10, and averages 3.8 blocks per game, which ranks fourth in the conference.

Saint Louis Remains - Saint Louis (8-7 | 2-0 A-10) opened the game on a 6-0 run, knocking down three of its first six shots, before Moore answered with a layup and a three-pointer to pull Duquesne within one. The Billikens briefly extended the margin to 9-5, but consecutive steals and layups by Green tied the game with 3:07 remaining in the first quarter. Later in the period, a basket from Alyssa Koerkenmeier gave Saint Louis a 14-11 edge, though Moore responded with a pull-up jumper to trim the deficit to 14-13 at the end of the opening quarter. Koerkenmeier opened the second frame with a three-point play to push the Billikens' lead to 17-13, but Duquesne quickly countered with a 7-0 run to take a 20-17 advantage. Bordas ignited the spurt with a layup, followed by a pair of free throws from sophomore Harriet Ford, and capped by a turnaround jumper from classmate Faith Walker. During the stretch, the Dukes locked in defensively, holding Saint Louis scoreless on 0-of-7 shooting while forcing four turnovers over a four-minute span.

Welcome Back – After missing the previous 10 games due to injury, sophomore guard Nadia Moore returned to the lineup against Saint Louis and made an immediate impact. She led the team with 15 points while shooting 50.0 percent (7-of-14) from the field, including one three-pointer. Moore also added three rebounds and one assist against the Billikens. The Pennsylvania native scored nine of her 15 points in the first half, going 4-of-7 from the floor while grabbing three rebounds. Moore is averaging 15.0 points per game this season while shooting 53.0 percent (18-of-34) from the field. She opened the year with a career-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting in a win over Saint Francis, then followed with 13 points, four rebounds, and one steal in a victory over Slippery Rock.

Board Masters - Duquesne continues to limit opponents to one shot per possession, driven by its overwhelming dominance on the glass. The Dukes rank 11th nationally with more than 45 rebounds per game and sit fifth in Division I with over 18 offensive rebounds per contest. That rebounding edge has fueled nine games with 40 or more rebounds this season, including four outings with 50-plus boards, all resulting in Duquesne victories. Sophomore forward Harriet Ford has been the catalyst behind that success. She averages just over eight rebounds per game, ranking third in the Atlantic 10, while her 4.5 offensive rebounds per contest sit sixth nationally. Ford has recorded four double-doubles, the second most in the conference and has led the Dukes in rebounding eight times this season. Freshman Raevin Washington adds another strong presence on the glass, averaging just under five rebounds per game while collecting five or more boards in seven contests.

New Kid On The Block – A driving force for Duquesne this season has been the play of freshman guard Alexis Bordas. She leads the team at 15.5 points per game, ranking seventh in the A-10, while her 3.0 triples per contest pace the league and rank 13th nationally. Bordas has scored in double figures in 11 games and has led the Dukes in scoring five times. The West Virginia native is converting 86.8 percent (33-of-38) from the free-throw line, the fifth best in the conference, including a 12-of-14 stretch over her last three games. She has posted two 20-point performances this season and owns the only 30-point outing by a Duke this year, pouring in 38 points in a victory over Pitt to tie for the sixth-most points in a single game in program history. Bordas has also been a disruptive presence defensively, recording at least one steal in every game this season. Her 2.1 steals per game rank seventh in the A-10. In her first two conference games, the freshman is averaging just under 11 points per contest while shooting better than 34.0 percent from the field.
