Youngstown, Ohio – Sophomore
Nadia Constantakis broke her own Duquesne indoor pole vault record, while three Dukes earned first-place finishes at the YSU Collegiate Invite on Friday.
Constantakis, who claimed the top spot in the DU record book three times as a freshman last season, raised her program record to 3.73 meters (12 feet, 2.75 inches), marking the fourth school-record mark in just eight career indoor meets. She cleared 3.43 meters and 3.58 meters on her first attempts before notching the school record on her second attempt at 3.73 meters, finishing fourth overall at the meet.
FULL RESULTS
Rose Kuchera claimed her second straight meet title to open her sophomore season, capturing first place in the long jump. Kuchera posted a 5.86-meter (19 feet, 2.75 inches) leap on her second attempt, which held atop the leaderboard. Competing in four events on the day, Kuchera also finished fifth in the 60 meters (7.85) and ran on the third-place 4x400-meter relay. Freshmen
Isabella Costa and
Brandi Brozeski rounded out the long jump results, placing fifth (5.42 meters / 17-9.5) and sixth (5.40 meters / 17-8.75), respectively.
Sylvia Kashak captured the 800-meter title with a time of 2:12.15 in her first career indoor meet, while
Cydney Blahovec followed in third (2:20.91).
Sophomore
Trinity Basara earned her first career meet title in the 500 meters, crossing the line in 1:20.46. First-year
Macie Steiner placed third in the event with a 1:23.92 effort.
In the triple jump, sophomore
Lauren Stroka finished second, setting a personal best of 11.65 meters (38-2.75). First-year
Devlyn Faber added an eighth-place finish with a 10.90-meter (35-9.25) leap.
Junior
Caroline Garbe placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.64 meters (5-4.5). Brozeski cleared 1.61 meters (5-3.25) to finish seventh, while Costa took ninth at 1.53 meters (5-0.25).
Anna Rorrer added a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a 9.05.
Freshmen
Melani Schmidt (25.75) and
Selma Bajgoric (25.82) finished back-to-back in the 200 meters, placing sixth and seventh.
The Dukes' 4x400-meter relay teams crossed the line in consecutive order from second through fourth. Schmidt, Rorrer, Basara and Bajgoric placed second in 3:57.73, followed by Costa,
Eva Leatherman, Brozeski and Kuchera in third (4:00.27). Blahovec,
Kendall Lucas,
Elizabeth Pizon and Kashak finished fourth in 4:10.18.
Junior
Reagan Ryen set a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:21.12, while
Ella Lindberg recorded a PR in the weight throw at 11.26 meters (36-11.5).
