Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University bowling team concluded the 2024-25 season ranked 14th in the final Top 25 coaches poll from the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA), announced Wednesday. It marks the 39th consecutive poll dating back to 2018 that the Dukes have been ranked in the NTCA Top 25.
DU finished with 579 points in the final poll and is the highest ranked program from the Northeast Conference (NEC), as Fairleigh Dickinson finished two spots behind the Dukes at No. 16 with 491 points.
Finishing atop the poll was Youngstown State, which earned its first national championship in program history in 2025 and earned 34 out of a possible 35 first-place votes to accumulate 1,485 points. Rounding out the top five is Jacksonville State (1,378), Nebraska (1,326), Wichita State (1,246) and Vanderbilt (1,196). The Cornhuskers earned the remaining first-place tally.
Led by head coach
Jody Fetterhoff, Duquesne finished with an overall record of 58-47 (.552) during the 2024-25 campaign, including a mark of 15-9 (.625) in conference action. The Dukes advanced to their first final of the NEC Championship in program history, falling to the Knights, 2-1.
Fifth-year
Shannon Small was named the
2025 NEC Bowler of the Year in a vote of league head coaches and was one of three Dukes to earn All-NEC First Team status, joining senior
Ranelle Ulanday and junior
Emma Siekierski. Small went on to earn
NTCA Honorable Mention All-America honors and was also named to the
National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) All-America Second Team as well as the
International Bowling Media Association (IBMA) All-America Second Team.
