CLERMONT, Fla. – The Duquesne University triathlon team concluded its season over the weekend at the Clermont Draft Legal, competing in races on both Saturday and Sunday.
Rachele Lavagno led the Dukes with top-10 finishes on both days, placing 10th on Saturday and improving to eighth on Sunday.
Kate Potashnik also had strong showings, finishing ninth on Day One and 12th on Day Two.
SATURDAY RACE
Potashnik and Lavagno finished back-to-back in ninth and 10th, respectively.
Potashnik clocked a time of 35:27, closing with a 9:46 run — the third-fastest of the race.
Lavagno followed in 35:30, leading the Dukes in the swim (5:15, seventh-fastest overall) and bike (17:22).
Abby Kreber (36:40) and
Alexandria Meyers (36:51) placed 18th and 20th, respectively. Meyers posted the sixth-fastest run of the meet with a 10:01 split.
Freya Davis (37:27) and
Alaina Hicks (38:01) finished 26th and 29th, respectively.
SUNDAY RACE
Lavagno charted a 5:17 swim, 16:14 bike, and 10:51 run en route to an eighth-place finish, crossing the line in 34:17. Her swim ranked fourth among all competitors, while her bike split was the second-fastest of the race.
The Dukes placed six athletes in the top 20, adding Potashnik (34:37, 12th),
Vivien Mattice (35:02, 13th),
Tamara Kun (35:19, 15th),
Robyn Hunt (35:29, 16th), and Kreber (36:48, 20th).
Meyers finished 23rd in 37:08, Davis took 25th in 37:31, and Hicks followed in 26th at 38:02.
Potashnik recorded the second-fastest run time of the event, finishing in 9:35, while Mattice's 16:46 bike split ranked ninth overall.
