Beaver Falls, Pa. — The Duquesne University triathlon team celebrated its inaugural Senior Day on Saturday at Brady's Run Park, honoring six seniors, including five members of the program's founding class, while freshman
Daria Ermolova captured the individual title at the Duquesne Invitational.

Ermolova won the 102-athlete field with a time of 1:02:24.95, recording splits of 10:05 in the swim, 31:27 on the bike and a race-leading 18:37 in the run. She crossed the finish line more than 30 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
It marked the second consecutive season a Duke has won the Duquesne Invitational.
Duquesne placed six athletes in the top 30. Sophomore
Catherine Staley finished fifth with a 1:03:54.58. Junior
Rachele Lavagno was the first Duke out of the water in 9:26 before finishing 18th overall in 1:05:30.62. Senior
Kate Potashnik followed in 19th at 1:05:51.57, while senior
Vivien Mattice placed 21st in 1:05:57.42 to round out the Dukes' five scorers. The finishes helped Duquesne place second in the team standings among 10 programs.
Lavagno and Staley recorded the third- and fourth-fastest swim splits in the field, respectively, while Ermolova led the Dukes on the bike with the fifth-fastest split and posted the fastest run of the race, 33 seconds ahead of the next-fastest runner.
Eleven Dukes finished in the top half of the field.
Duquesne returns to action Oct. 4 at the Navy Collegiate Cup in Annapolis, Maryland.
