WASHINGTON, D.C. — Madelyn Moretti has been named Atlantic 10 Co-Field Performer of the Week after recording a mark of 14.52 meters (47-7.75) in the shot put, good for second place in the A-10 this season and Duquesne history.
A junior from Madison, Ohio, Moretti upped her second-place spot in the Duquesne record book, improving her previous mark of 14.44 meters set at last year's SPIRE Collegiate Invitational. Her new mark puts her a full meter ahead of third place in program history and within half a meter behind Ashley Adams' all-time record of 14.95 meters, set in 2011.
Moretti is the third Duke to earn an A-10 weekly honor this season, joining
Rose Kuchera (Rookie of the Week – Dec. 10) and
Caroline Garbe (Field Performer of the Week – Jan. 21). With just four meets completed, Duquesne has already recorded its most A-10 weekly honors in a single season since 2001.
Duquesne will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Jud Logan Light Giver Memorial in Ashland, Ohio.
