Hampton, Va. – The Duquesne University swimming & diving team delivered a dominant performance on day three of the Atlantic 10 Championships, securing five medals, including two golds, at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex on Friday.
This impressive showing has kept the Dukes in third place, with a total of 361 points. George Washington remains in first place with 438.5 points, while Richmond holds onto second with 383 points. Fordham and Davidson round out the top five, sitting in fourth with 264 points and fifth with 237.5 points, respectively.
Freshman
Ashley Freel sparked Duquesne with an impressive performance, securing gold in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.00, which not only marked an NCAA B Cut but also set a new school record and achieved a personal best. Her victory gave the Dukes their first gold of the championships. Freel further impressed by posting a personal best in the 400 IM, finishing fourth with a time of 4:17.70. Classmate
Rachel Howard also competed in the 100 fly, recording a career-best time of 55.01 to place seventh, while junior
Claudia Rzeznik also set a personal best in the event, touching the wall at 55.27.
The Dukes dominated the 200-yard freestyle, sweeping the top two spots. Senior
Orla Egan claimed her fourth medal of the competition, winning gold with a time of 1:49.77, while sophomore
Lexi Sundgren earned her first medal, taking silver with a time of 1:49.41. The two finished just five-tenths of a second apart. Junior
Aislinn Mooney also had a strong showing, recording a personal best in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.50.
Senior
Haley Scholer added another medal to her resume, capturing the silver in the 100-yard backstroke while setting a new personal best with a time of 53:63. Freshman
Sierra Snow added another personal best to her list, clocking in a time of 55:24 in the same event to be tabbed eighth while junior
Katie Simpson posted her best time at 55:91.

On the diving boards, junior Ashley Feltisky led the Dukes in the three-meter event, scoring 276.35 after six dives in the consolation final. Classmate

Brianne Dempsey earned a total of 210.15.
