NOTHING BUT NYLON
- The Duquesne women's basketball team opens Atlantic 10 play, when it travels to Davidson on Wednesday, Dec. 3 inside John M. Belk Arena, with the opening tip scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

- The Dukes are coming off the Navy Classic as they split a pair of contests last weekend. Duquesne opened the classic with a 67-60 defeat to Liberty before responding with a 69-67 overtime triumph over the host Navy on Sunday afternoon.

- Against the Flames, despite trailing by as many as 21, Duquesne battled back and cut the deficit to 48-41 entering the final quarter. Emmy Stout briefly pushed the Flames lead back to nine after going 1-of-2 at the foul line, but sophomore Harriet Ford and freshman Alexis Bordas ignited a 7-3 Dukes run.

- Ford opened the surge with a layup, and after a Liberty three, Bordas answered with one of her own. Ford then capped the run with a pair of free-throws to make it 60-55. After several empty possessions for both teams, Avery Mills converted an old-fashioned three-point play to extend Liberty's lead to eight.

- Bordas responded again from deep, pulling Duquesne within five with 2:43 remaining. A scoring drought followed on both ends before the teams traded baskets, but a Liberty layup with 32 seconds left pushed the margin back to seven, sealing the 67-60 final.

- Against the Mids, overtime opened with a three-minute scoring drought on both sides before freshman Raevin Washington broke through, finishing a layup to give Duquesne a 62-60 lead with 2:46 to play.

- Navy answered with four of the next six points to tie the game at 64, but sophomore Harriet Ford responded with a three-point play that pushed the Dukes ahead 67-64 with 57 seconds left. The Mids quickly countered as Julianna Almeida drilled a right-wing three to even things once more with 39 seconds remaining.

- Ford put Duquesne back on top by splitting a pair of free throws, and on the ensuing possession, Green stepped in to draw a crucial charge on Zanai Barnett-Gay with four seconds left. Bordas then calmly knocked down one of two free throws to extend the lead to 69–67, and Navy was unable to get a final shot off as time expired.

Davidson Game Notes

The Series vs. Davidson – Wednesday marks the 14th meeting between Duquesne and Davidson, with the Dukes holding a 7-6 edge in the all-time series. Davidson has won five of the last six matchups, including a 76-70 victory last season. In that game, the Wildcats built a 15-point lead (56-41) late in the third quarter, though Duquesne battled back to cut the deficit to six three times in the fourth. A 9-4 run spanning the third and fourth quarters, paced by Kiaku's six points and Coueta's three, fueled the Dukes' push, but Davidson's lead remained in double digits until Megan McConnell's driving layup with 2:32 to go. Duquesne shot 50.0 percent (9-of-18) from the field in the final quarter, holding Davidson to 37.5 percent (3-of-8), but the Wildcats converted 14-of-22 (63.6 percent) from the free-throw line. The Dukes were led by a pair of 20-point performances from McConnell and Jerni Kiaku. McConnell finished with 29 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal, scoring 22 of her points in the second half, including 20 in the fourth quarter alone. Kiaku added 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 11 in the first half, along with a rebound and an assist.

Scouting The Wildcats – Davidson enters Wednesday's contest with a 5-3 overall record, coming off a 64-59 win over Ohio on Sunday (Nov. 30). The Wildcats are guided by ninth-year head coach Gayle Fulks, who steered the program to one of its most successful seasons a year ago. This season, Davidson was picked third in the A-10 preseason poll, with Charlise Dunn, Katie Donovan, and Candice Lienafa earning preseason team honors. Dunn leads the Wildcats with 17.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, ranking fifth in the Atlantic 10 in both categories. She has knocked down 18 threes through eight games, with her 2.25 per contest sitting sixth in the league. Donovan follows with just under 10 points per game, while Kyra Bruyndoncx leads the A-10 in three-point percentage at 47.1 percent. Bruyndoncx is also contributing 9.1 points per game and adding a steal per outing. Defensively, Davidson stands as the third-best scoring defense in the conference, limiting opponents to just 59.1 points per game and forcing 13.8 turnovers, also third in the league. The Wildcats have navigated a demanding non-conference slate early on, highlighted by matchups against three Power Five foes: Mississippi State, No. 7 Baylor, and Miami.

Navy Classic Remains – Against Liberty, two Dukes scored in double figures, led by Alexis Bordas with her second 20-point outing of the season. She finished with 23 points on 50% shooting, including five threes, plus two rebounds and a steal. Eighteen of her points came in the second half as she went 6-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-6 from deep. Reina Green added a season-high 10 points, matched her career high with seven rebounds, and recorded a steal. Raevin Washington posted eight points, a team-best eight boards, and four blocks, while Gabby Grantham-Medley and Mackenzie Blackford chipped in seven points apiece, with Grantham-Medley adding four assists. The next day against Navy, Duquesne entered the fourth quarter down 56–44 but responded with a dominant defensive effort, holding the Mids to just four points on 1-for-14 shooting. The Dukes opened the frame on a 7–2 run to cut the deficit to 58–51, then scored eight straight to take a 59–58 lead with 4:08 remaining, fueled by five points from Grantham-Medley and a Bordas three. After a scoreless stretch from both sides, Ford hit one of two at the line to tie it at 60–60 and send the game to overtime.

Rookie Spotlight – For the second time this season, freshman guard Alexis Bordas has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The West Virginia native averaged 17.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, while draining 12 three-pointers across three contests in earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Bordas opened the week with 11 points, three assists, two steals, and three threes against Kent State. She followed with a 23-point performance against Liberty, shooting 7-of-14 from the field, hitting five triples, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the line, and adding two rebounds. She closed the week with 18 points, including four threes, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in Duquesne's overtime comeback win over Navy to wrap up the Navy Classic. Off to a standout start in her collegiate career, Bordas leads the Dukes with more than 15 points per game, ranking ninth in the Atlantic 10. She has already knocked down a league-best 24 three-pointers, a total that stands 20th nationally. Her 3.0 made threes per game ranks 22nd in the country and first in the A-10. The rookie is shooting 36.4 percent from beyond the arc, good for sixth in the league, while her 19 steals rank third in the conference.

Crashing The Glass – The Dukes continue to capitalize on their size, emerging as one of the top rebounding teams in the country. Duquesne ranks sixth nationally with 49.1 rebounds per game, while its 19.8 offensive boards per contest stand second in the nation, trailing only LSU. Sophomore Harriet Ford leads the way, averaging 9.2 rebounds per game to rank second in the Atlantic 10. Even more impressive, she pulls down nearly six offensive rebounds per game, second in all of Division I. Ford has recorded four double-doubles in her first six games, a mark that ranks 11th nationally and is tied for the league lead. The Austrian native is also averaging just over 11 points per game and has scored in double figures in five of six outings. Redshirt sophomore Gabby Grantham-Medley follows with 5.6 rebounds per game, while freshman Raevin Washington is adding just under five boards per contest for the Dukes.

Spread The Wealth – Duquesne continues to lead the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging more than 77.5 points per game. A major factor in that success is the Dukes' balanced attack, with four players averaging double figures, led by freshman standout Alexis Bordas. She is posting 15.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game while shooting 34.8 percent from the field. Sophomore Mackenzie Blackford ranks second on the team with 11.3 points per game, adding 3.9 rebounds along with 1.6 assists and steals. She's shooting an impressive 41.0 percent from the floor and has reached double figures four times. Harriet Ford follows closely with 11.2 points per game on 45.6 percent shooting. Redshirt sophomore Gabby Grantham-Medley rounds out the double-figure contributors, averaging 10.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. She has scored in double figures five times and recorded one double-double this season. Over the weekend, Grantham-Medley joined Bordas on the All-Tournament Team after averaging 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals across two games.
