TROUTMAN, N.C. – Duquesne's
Kadence Ribbink continued her standout freshman season with an eighth-place finish to lead the No. 9-ranked Dukes at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon East National Qualifier on Saturday at Lake Norman State Park.
Ribbink's finish marked the first-ever top-20 individual result for Duquesne in the national qualifier race and the best in the program's three-year history, with a time of 1:04:22.4. The freshman from Durban, South Africa, recorded the team's fastest swim (10:03), bike (34:36) and run (17:49), posting top-10 marks in both the swim and run, including the sixth-best run among all competitors.
Kate Potashnik (1:08:19.4) and
Mikele Jopson (1:08:35.4) finished back-to-back in 29th and 30th, while
Vivien Mattice placed 32nd in the 66-finisher field with a 1:08:45.4. Freshman
Catherine Staley overcame a race crash to score for Duquesne in 36th place with a 1:10:30.0.
The Dukes finished fifth in the Division I team standings and seventh overall among all teams.

Ribbink will headline the Dukes in the A-Wave at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships on Nov. 8 in Tempe, Arizona. Duquesne's remaining wave placements will be determined following the West Region Race on Sunday.
