Box Score Morgantown, W.Va. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team traveled to Morgantown, W.Va. on Saturday morning, dropping a tough 4-3 decision at West Virginia at the Summit Tennis Academy. With the loss, the Dukes fall to 0-3 on the season.
The Mountaineers would secure the doubles point after taking two of the three matches. Senior
Kaya Rand and sophomore
Alexandra O'Brien fell 6-2 to Maja Dodik and Julie Bousseau at the first singles while junior
Taisia Yakunina and sophomore
Sofia Serrano fell to Mille Haagensen and Lyla Byers, 6-2 at the third spot.
In singles play, the Dukes battled back, taking three of the singles matches. Junior
Jasa Roka dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match to Haagensen at the top spot while Badics secured a 64-, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Bousseau at the two slot. At third singles, Rand downed Michaela Kucharova, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 before O'Brien dropped a hard fought 6-3, 7-6, (7-4) decision to Dodik. At the final two spots, Yakunina secured a 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 win over Laura V Morillo before freshman
Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez lost 6-4, 6-4 to Byers in the sixth slot.

Duquesne returns to action on Friday, Jan. 31, when it travels to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on the Bulls for a non-conference match.
