- The Duquesne University volleyball team heads to Morehead, Ky. to compete in the Comfort Inn-Vitational, Friday, Sept. 13 through Saturday, Sept. 14, hosted by Morgan State. The Dukes kickoff the invite by battling the host Eagles on Friday at 10:30 a.m. before taking on Evansville at 4:30 p.m. Duquesne concludes the tournament with a match against Eastern Michigan on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

- The Dukes went a perfect 3-0 over the weekend as they hosted the Chick-fil-A Robinson Classic. They opened the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Niagara before defeating Coppin State in straight sets. Duquesne concluded the weekend with a 3-1 win over Robert Morris on Saturday.

- Against the Purple Eagles, freshman Emersen Schrom posted a season-best 17 kills, seven service aces, and a .314 hitting percentage. Her seven aces were just one shy of tying the record for most aces in a four-set match. Junior Carsyn Henschen, graduate student Elizabeth Drelling, and sophomore Avery Hobson all carded nine kills while Hobson tallied 11 digs, 1.5 blocks, and one service ace.

- Sophomore Chloe Wilmot registered her first assist/digs double-double of the season, posting a team-leading 26 assists and 11 digs while collecting four service aces. Graduate student Grace Kristofic recorded 20 assists and four digs while junior Madison Grimm totaled nine digs and three aces. As a team, the Dukes tallied 17 service aces, three shy of the program record in a four-set match.

- Schrom continued her success against Coppin State, finishing with 12 kills, two service aces, and one total block. Drelling sat second on the team with nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage to go along with five digs and one ace. Floyd registered six successful swings on a .417 hitting percentage while leading the team with 4.5 total blocks.

- Against the Colonials, Floyd had a career day, carding 15 kills and a .700 hitting percentage while collecting 3.5 blocks and two digs. Henschen posted 15 kills while registering a .458 hitting percentage and three digs in the win. Schrom was the third Duke in double-figures, carding her four straight games with 10+ kills. She ended with 10 kills.

- Hobson led the team with 13 digs and nine kills. Graduate student Grace Kristofic controlled the offense, carding 27 assists, five digs, and two aces while sophomore Chloe Wilmot posted her second double-double of the season, with 26 assists and 11 digs, to go along with three service aces

- Duquesne returns back to UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse when it hosts Mercyhurst on Tuesday, September 17, for a non-conference match beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Scouting the Eagles – A member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), Morehead State goes into the weekend with a 2-4 record after competing at the Geri Polvino Invitational last weekend. The Eagles dropped a 3-1 match to Eastern Kentucky to begin the Invitational before securing a 3-0 sweep over Youngstown State and a 3-2 victory over Radford. Senior Peighton Isley earned OVC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance last weekend. She totaled 62 digs, averaging 5.1 per set at the invitational. She tallied a pair of 22 dig performances against EKU and Radford while carding 18 against YSU. Come Friday morning, it'll be just the fifth meeting between the Dukes and Eagles and the first since the 2018 campaign. The all-time series is split 2-2 with Morehead State winning the last two meetings.

Scouting the Purple Aces – Come Friday evening, it'll mark just the fourth meeting between Duquesne and Evansville. The Dukes own a 2-1 mark in the all-time series but the Aces took the last meeting in five sets back in 2017. Evansville comes in with a 1-5 overall record, dropping its last four matches. The Aces hosted the Dunn Hospitality Tournament last weekend, dropping three straight 3-1 decisions to Chicago State, Samford, and Miami Ohio. Giulia Cardona leads the Aces in almost every statistical category this season. She's totaled 103 kills, 69 digs, and 13 total blocks over the last six contests. Cardona has carded double-digit kills in five consecutive matches, including 4.68 successful swings per set. The senior is averaging 3.14 digs per set while posting five straight games with 10+ kills.
 
Scouting the Eagles – A member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Michigan heads to Kentucky with a 2-5 overall mark after hosting its EMU Tournament last weekend. The Eagles dropped three consecutive matches, falling to George Washington and Marshall in five sets while being defeated by Oakland, 3-0. … It'll be just the fourth meeting when the Dukes and Eagles take the floor on Saturday, with EMU holding a 2-1 advantage. Duquesne took the last meeting in straight sets back in 2018. … Eastern Michigan is led by Kaili Doctor and Kendal Bonney. … Doctor is averaging 2.43 kills per set while totaling a team-best 68 on the year. … Bonney has carded 62 total kills while collecting 2.30 kills per stanza. Hatteras Welker leads the MAC in total blocks (36) while sitting fourth in rejections per set (1.29)

Weekly Accolade - Freshman outside hitter Emersen Schrom was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after her performance at the Chick-fil-A Robinson Classic last weekend. She averaged 4.55 points and 3.55 kills per set while carding a .253 hitting percentage over the two-day event. Schrom began the weekend by totaling a season-best 17 kills and a .314 swing percentage while collecting seven service aces in a 3-1 win over Niagara. Her seven aces are just one shy of the program record (8) in a four-set match as she recorded three digs and two blocks in the win. She followed that up with 12 kills, two aces, and two block assists in a 3-0 sweep over Coppin State. The freshman ended the weekend with her third straight game of double-digit kills, ending with 10 in a 3-1 victory over Robert Morris.

Celebrating 50 Years – This season marks the 50th anniversary of women's volleyball as it began in the fall of 1974. For the first 12 years, Duquesne played as a club team before elevating the program to the Division I level in 1986. The first coach to lead the then-Duchesses' was Duquesne alum Rob Cisney who coached the first three years of the Dukes being a Division I program. Leading up to this season, Duquesne has put together an all-time record of 694-695 (.499), a Division I record of 509-586 (.465), and an Atlantic 10 record of 206-585 (.400). The Dukes won its first-ever Division I contest at Robert Morris on September 10, 1986, with a 3-0 sweep. Duquesne won its first-ever conference contest against Rutgers, when they defeated the Scarlet Knights in straight sets.
