Duquesne Sets 2024-25 Schedule

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University bowling team announced its 2024-25 schedule Wednesday, which includes the program's first appearance in the Prairie View Invitational.

The Dukes will open their 2024-25 season by taking part in the Penguin Classic in Struthers, Ohio, at Holiday Bowl Friday, Oct. 18, through Sunday, Oct. 20. It marks the third time in the last four years Duquesne will open a season with the tournament hosted by Youngstown State.

Also on the slate for the Dukes as part of their fall 2024 schedule is appearances at Destination Orlando (Oct. 18-20) and the Garden State Classic (Nov. 22-24) as well as the first of two competitions in Northeast Conference (NEC) action. NEC No. 1 takes place Friday, Nov. 15, through Sunday, Nov. 17, in Binghamton, N.Y., at Ripics Carousel Lanes.

The 2025 calendar year opens for Duquesne at the Northeast Classic (Jan. 17-19) before the Dukes travel to the Prairie View Invitational Friday, Jan. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 26. Taking place at the International Training and Research Center (ITRC) in Arlington, Texas, the event is reserved for programs that finished in the Top 10 the previous season. Duquesne will be making its debut in the competition in January after finishing 10th in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25 poll of the 2023-24 season.

The second NEC meet is slated for Feb. 14-16 in Altoona, Pa., at Holiday Bowl. Over the course of the two NEC competitions, each program will bowl each team in the conference twice, including once in baker total pinfall and once in traditional games. A total of 24 matches will take place over the course of the two events, with tie breakers and a regular-season champion crowned by total pins. Duquesne will concluded its 2024-25 regular season by taking part in the Stallings Invitational for the second consecutive year.

Postseason play begins March 7 with the first of three days at the ISC & ITC Sectionals before the NEC Championship (March 21-23), which will be hosted in Hamilton, N.J., at Hamilton Lanes. Duquesne will also serve as host for the NCAA Regionals for the third consecutive year, which are set for Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes.

Led by Jody Fetterhoff, the only head coach in the program's nine-year history, the Dukes return six bowlers from a 2023-24 squad that finished with an overall record of 71-36 (.664), claimed their first outright NEC regular-season championship and made a second straight appearance in the NCAA Championship.

Shannon Small returns for her fifth season and carries a career average of 200.7 per game into the 2024-25 campaign, which ranks third in program history. Senior Ranelle Ulanday led Duquesne last season with an average of 204.5, while sophomore Maribeth Baker is the reigning NEC Rookie of the Year and, along with Small, was tabbed to the 2024 All-NEC First Team.
