PITTSBURGH -- The Duquesne University track and field teams competed at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational, hosted by George Mason, over the weekend. The Dukes had four event winners on the women's side and finished in the top-five of four events on the men's side.
RESULTS
FOUR EVENT WINS LEAD DU WOMEN
- Hannah Seitzinger won the 400m with a 55.43, topping a 45-runner field.
- Jamelah Carswell PR'd in her 400m hurdles victory, crossing the line in 1:02.46 ... Carswell also finished fifth in the long jump marking a long of 5.61m (18' 5").
- Megan Penrod prevailed in the javelin, her second straight weekend with a meet victory. Penrod's furthest mark was a career-long 42.71m (140' 1") and moves her up the all-time leaderboard to second in Duquesne history.
- The 4x400m relay team of Alyssa Willis, Amy Allen, Jamelah Carswell, and Hannah Seitzinger claimed the top spot in the meet with a 3:50.25.
NOTABLES
- Sophomore Madelyn Moretti, who holds the DU school record in shot put, moved into the all-time top five in discus with a career-best 44.97m (147' 6") throw ... Moretti placed third in the discus at the meet, while finishing as runner up in the shot put (14.20m / 46' 7.25").
- Liv Wilson, Mara Whalen, Angela Valotta, and Haley Hamilton finished second in the 4x800m relay with a 9:22.36.
- Sadie Wetzel cleared 1.68m (5' 6") in third place of the high jump, while Caroline Garbe took sixth with a clear of 1.58m (5' 2.25").
- Senior Emily Brozeski placed fourth in the 100m hurdles with a 14.70.
- Freshman Mia Pierce recorded a 43.34m (142' 2") discus throw in fourth place and finished fifth in the javelin throw (38.84m / 127' 5").
- Amber McCool set a new personal best (41.29m / 135' 5") in fourth place of the javelin throw, which places her fifth all-time at Duquesne ... Halle Walcutt also PR'd in the javelin with a 36.34m (119' 3") throw in eighth place.
- Eva Leatherman (1:05.60) and Anna Rorrer (1:05.99) both PR'd following Carswell in fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the 400m hurdles.
- Ezra Johnson-Mills finished sixth in the hammer throw with a long of 47.05m (154' 4").
- Alyssa Willis ran a 25.54 in the 200m dash finishing in seventh place.
- Haley Hamilton took seventh in the 1500m with a personal-best 4:37.61 ... Senior Liv Wilson (4:44.01) also set a new personal best in the race.
- Senior Rachel Koonmen finished 10th in the shot put with a long of 12.21m (40' 0.75")
- Kaylin Cousin ran to a top-10 finish in the 400m, crossing the line in 59.68.
FOUR IN TOP-FIVE FOR DU MEN
NOTABLES
- Freshman Spencer Edey made his Duquesne debut and finished sixth in the triple jump with a long of 13.68m (44' 10.75").
- David Williams took seventh in the 400m with a 49.26.
- Three discus throwers PR'd in the meet; Nick Curci (44.33m / 145' 5"), Rocco Caprara (40.50m / 132' 10"), Nick Tarabokia (40.24m / 132' 0") ... Caparara also had a top-10 finish in the hammer throw with a long of 44.16m (144' 10"), also a personal best.
- Joe Klanchar (49.79m / 163' 4") threw a personal best in the javelin for the second straight weekend.
BOLLA WINS AT SLIPPERY ROCK
- Sophomore Gina Bolla made her track & field season debut at Slippery Rock's Dave Labor Invitational and won the 5000m race with a personal-best 17:41.95.
