Madelyn Moretti headlined the Duquesne University track and field team's trip to the Bison Outdoor Classic this weekend, breaking her own shot put school record. The Dukes totaled nine record book edits at the meet with eight on the women's side and one on the men's side by freshman
Vincent Rupp.
RESULTS
DU WOMEN REFRESH RECORD BOOK
- Madelyn Moretti topped her own program record in the shot put with a 14.50m (47' 7") mark, while also setting a new personal best in the discus throw at 45.75m (150' 1") ... Moretti placed third in the shot put and fourth in the discus for the meet.
- Hannah Seitzinger was the runner-up in the 800m with a career-best 2:07.29, refreshing the second-fastest time in DU history ... Liv Wilson also posted a personal-best with a 2:10.80 in the race to move into fifth all-time at Duquesne.
- Jamelah Carswell etched her name into fourth on the all-time top-times list at Duquesne with a personal-best 1:01.10 in third place of the 400m hurdles.
- Halle Walcutt bettered her third-place standing in the Duquesne record book with 4674 points as the heptathlon runner-up, while Carswell racked up 4534 points in fourth place, which ranks fourth all-time at DU.
- Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Mia Pierce set early career-best marks in both the discus (45.83m / 150' 4") and javelin (41.16m / 135' 0") throws placing third and 10th, respectively, in the meet ... Pierce's discus mark places her fifth all-time in the DU record book.
- Haley Hamilton bettered her fifth-place standing in the Duquesne all-time record books with a 10:36.66 finishing in second place of the 3000m steeplechase ... Hamilton also PR'd in the 800m race with a 2:12.79.
RUPP LEADS DU MEN WITH RECORD-BOOK MARK
- Freshman Vincent Rupp cleared 1.98m (6' 6") in the high jump, finishing fourth in the meet and moved up to a tie for second all-time at Duquesne.
- Freshman Christian Cupp leaped 7.00m (22' 11.75") in the long jump for a fifth place finish.
- Ben Colli took sixth in the 800m unseeded run with a 1:58.60.
- Freshmen Jonah Nizami (4:24.01) and Maxwell Hamilton (4:29.40) posted early career-best times in the mile ... Nizami finished the race in fifth place.
- Nathaniel Woshner PR'd in the 10k with a 33:15.36.
- Rocco Caprara set new personal best marks in the discus (40.99m / 134' 6") and hammer (45.53m / 149' 4") throws.
NOTABLES
- Amy Allen finished sixth in the 400m crossing the line in 55.82 and set a new PR in the 200m with a 25.61.
- Sadie Wetzel placed eighth in the high jump clearing 1.62m (5' 3.75").
- Ezra Johnson-Mills threw a long of 48.46m (159' 0") in the hammer throw to finish eighth.
- Emily Brozeski ran to a ninth-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a 14.66.
- Brooke Krally (36:21.82) and Sophia Trevenen (40:16.93) both PR'd in the 10k.
- Anna Rorrer (1:04.30) and Eva Leatherman (1:04.99) joined Carswell to make it all three competing Dukes with personal bests in the 400m hurdles.
