Spring Football Underway on The Bluff

PITTSBURGH -- The defending Northeast Conference football champion Duquesne Dukes kicked off spring ball this afternoon at Rooney Field.

The Dukes have 15 practice dates scheduled for the spring, culminating with the annual spring game on Saturday, April 6 at 3 pm.

Duquesne posted a 7-5 overall record with a 6-1 conference mark, the second-most league wins as members of the NEC, in 2023. A 26-14 victory at Merrimack in the regular season finale gave the Dukes their sixth NEC title - second outright - and third appearance in the NCAA FCS playoffs.

Reigning NEC Coach of the Year and Eddie Robinson Award (National Coach of the Year) finalist Jerry Schmitt will enter his 20th season in 2024 in search of his 10th conference championship at the helm of the Dukes.

Duquesne announced the addition of 16 incoming freshmen from six different states and six mid-year transfers on National Signing Day in early February, click here to read about the signing class.

The Dukes also inked three during the December signing period, two of which are transfers taking part in spring ball - click here to read about the December signing class.
