Marshall Tabbed to A-10 Preseason All-Conference Team

Newport News, Va. - For the second straight season, Duquesne senior Kaipo Marshall has been named to the Atlantic 10 Men's tennis Preseason All-Conference team, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.

Marshall, who plays as the Dukes' No. 1, has been off to a hot start this spring. After missing the first two matches, he has posted a perfect 4-0 mark while securing wins against Edinboro, Colgate, Fordham, and UIC No. 1. Marshall has been playing primary at the number two doubles, recording a 3-1 mark with teammate Jin Dassanayake. The Duo has captured wins against Edinboro, Colgate, and Fordham.

The Barbados native registered a 4-2 record in singles play during the fall while compiling a 4-1 mark in doubles competition. Marshall was named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team last spring after tallying a 10-3 singles record in the top spot. He rattled off a string of seven straight singles victories to finish the regular season, including both of his A-10 matchups. Marshall also competed in 12 matches in the second flight of doubles, and finished with a 7-5 record.

The Dukes were picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll after totaling 34 points. VCU was chosen as the league favorite, receiving all 10 first-place votes and totaling 100 points. Dayton (89) was tabbed second while Richmond (76), Davidson (69) and Saint Louis (59) rounded out the top five. George Mason totaled 48 points to finish just ahead of Duquesne as St. Bonaventure (30), Fordham (26), and Saint Joseph's (19) closed out the remaining spots.

Duquesne was picked to finish ninth in the women's preseason poll after totaling 58 points. VCU was tabbed the favorite after receiving eight first-place votes and totaling 164 points. Fordham was selected second with 143 points and three first-place votes while Richmond (135), Massachusetts (122/1) and Davidson (117) closed out the top five. George Washington (113), Saint Louis (84/1), and Rhode Island (66) where chosen to finish sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively while Dayton (57), George Mason (39), St. Bonaventure (26) and Saint Joseph's (18) rounded out the final spots.
