GENEVA, Ohio -- The Duquesne University indoor track and field team won three events on Saturday at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games.
Hannah Seitzinger finished first in the 400m,
Haley Hamilton was first to cross the line in the 3000m, and the Dukes' relay team of
Amy Allen,
Alyssa Willis,
Jamelah Carswell and
Hannah Seitzinger took the top spot in the 4x400m.
Seitzinger charted a new indoor-best 55.80 to win the 80-runner field. With the new indoor PR, Seitzinger moves up to third on the Duquesne all-time 400m leaderboard.
Hamilton also set a personal best in her 3000m victory (out of 73 runners), posting a 9:59.15.
The Allen, Willis, Carswell, Seitzinger quartet not only won the meet, but also recorded an IC4A/ECAC qualifying time crossing the stripe in 3:47.95. The time was a hundredth of a second outside of the all-time top-five at DU.
Sophomore
Madelyn Moretti posted a new indoor-best at 14.44m (47' 4.5"), finishing runner-up in the shot put. The 14.44m mark refreshes Moretti's second-place standing on the Duquesne all-time leaderboard, inching her closer to Ashley Adams' indoor record of 14.95m that has stood since 2011.
Liv Wilson PR'd in the mile race as runner-up out of 75 competitors, recording a 5:03.35.Â
Brooke Krally took second in the 5000m run at 18:23.85, while teammate
Sophia Trevenen raced into the top 10 with a personal-best 19:16.56.
Amy Allen followed close behind Seitzinger in fourth place of the 400m with a 57.16.
Delaney Line (2:17.87),
Angela Valotta (2:19.43), and
Mara Whalen (2:19.59) took fifth, seventh, and eighth in the 800m race that featured 81 athletes.
Sadie Wetzel finished in fifth place in the high jump clearing 1.67m (5' 5.75").
Caroline Garbe placed 10th with a leap over the 1.62m (5' 3.75") bar.
Eva Leatherman set a new personal best in the 300m crossing the line in 43 seconds flat in sixth place.
Alyssa Willis qualified for the finals in the 60m dash and placed seventh with a 7.77.
Jamelah Carswell (8.98) and
Anna Rorrer (8.99) hit IC4A/ECAC qualifying times with personal bests in the prelims of the 60m hurdles. Carswell went on to race in the finals and finished in 10th.
