LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Seniors
Casey Padgett and
Haley Hamilton led the way for the Duquesne University cross country teams on Saturday at the Live in Lou Classic. Padgett finished 18th out of 323 in the men's blue 8k and Hamilton ran a career-best 5k time of 17:32.6 finishing in 24th place out of 263 runners in the women's gold field.
RESULTS
The Dukes placed third on the men's side out of 30 teams in the blue division, totaling 189 points, while the women took 10th out of 27 in the gold division.
Padgett clocked in at 25:19.1 to pace a quartet of DU athletes in the top-50. Freshman
Ben Shields placed 24th with a 25:30.1.
Nathaniel Woshner posted an 8k career-best 25:36.9 in 31st.
Mason Stewart crossed the line in 25:44.6 in 43rd place.
Ben Colli rounded out the scorers for the men in 82nd place with a career-best 8k time of 26:14.5.
Gina Bolla (18:09.5 - 67th),
Brooke Krally (18:15.3 - 80th) and
Addy Ciecierski (18:23.9 -95th) all had career-best times on the 5k course at E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
Freshman
Morgan Roemer completed the scoring for the Duquesne women with an 18:34.3 in her first collegiate 5k race finishing 108th.
The men finished with all 10 runners in the top half of the leaderboard (
Anthony Ciecierski - 102nd,
Sam de la Riva - 108th,
Jacob Bonnar - 132nd,
Jack Barnhisel - 135th, and
Cameron Bogdan - 140th). The women's team had four runners in the top-100 and six in the top-half of the field, as
Ryley Schwalm crossed less than a second after Roemer in 109th.
UP NEXT
Duquesne will stay in the Steel City for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 12) at Schenley Park.
