Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team hosted Western Michigan for its home opener, dropping a 4-0 decision on Friday night at the Alpha Tennis & Fitness of Pittsburgh. With the slip, the Dukes fall to 0-2 this season while the Broncos improve to 2-1 overall.

Western Michigan captured the doubles point after picking up a pair of matches in the session. Junior Kaya Rand and freshman Mila Badics dropped a 6-2 decision to Lindsey Zieglar and Valeriya Monko at the first spot. In the second position, graduate student Daniela Latoni and sophomore Jasa Roka fell by a count of 7-6 (8-6) to Karin Hamilton and Audrey Smitek while senior Ellen Shanahan and sophomore Taisia Yakunina captured the lone win for the Dukes, 7-6 (7-3) over Ariane Souligny and Polina Khotko in the final slot.

In the singles competition, the Broncos would secure wins at the first, third, and sixth slots to capture the match win. Latoni would fall to Zieglar 6-4, 6-0 in the first position before Roka dropped a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Monko in the third singles. Senior Ana Utrilla Benito fell to Ariane Souligny, 6-4, 6-3 in the final slot. Singles two, four, and five were recorded unfinished due to Western Michigan securing four points.
