PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University women's tennis team opens its fall season this weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Invite.
Graduate student Daniela Latoni returns to action this fall, coming off a strong spring season. Latoni went 11-7 in her singles matches, going 3-2 in the A-10 and was named Second Team All-Conference last spring. Ellen Shanahan and Ana Utrilla Benito also return for their senior seasons.
Sophomore Jasa Roka will look to build off an impressive first year on the Bluff after posting a 13-1 record last spring. Duquesne will welcome four newcomers, including freshmen Mila Badics and Sofia Serrano along with transfers Taisia Yakunina, a sophomore from Lipsomb, and Kaya Rand, a junior from DePaul.
The Dukes finished with a 9-9 record last spring and were 3-2 in conference play, before falling to Rhode Island in the first round of the A-10 playoffs.

Duquesne is competing in four invitationals over the fall season before head-to-head action begins in the spring. Next Friday, the Dukes will travel to Youngstown State.
