PITTSBURGH - Duquesne University's
Jin Dassanayake and
Kaipo Marshall have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
Dassanayake, a senior Finance major from New Zealand, and Marshall, a junior Economics major from Barbados, both own perfect 4.00 GPA's in the classroom and posted winning records on the court this spring.
Dassanayake bounced back from a tough start in the fall with an 8-6 singles record competing in the third and fourth flights for the Red and Blue. Marshall battled in the No. 1 position in all 13 singles matches this spring, going 10-3 against the opponents' top player, then a 9-3 fall individual season gave him a career-best 19 wins on the year. The Dukes duo also went 7-5 together in the second doubles spot throughout 2023 and ended the season winning seven of 10.
Duquesne is one of seven Atlantic 10 schools to have student-athletes recognized on the CSC Men's Tennis Academic All-District® Team and one of four with multiple selections.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced May 31. For more information about CSC Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® Teams program, visit
