NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Duquesne's Madelyn Moretti has earned a selection to the Atlantic 10 Women's Indoor Track and Field All-Rookie Team, announced by the conference office this afternoon.
 
Moretti, a freshman from Madison, Ohio, excelled in her first indoor season as a member of the Dukes and recorded the longest shot put of any first-year competitor in the A-10, a 13.96m at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games on February 11, to claim a spot on the All-Rookie team.
 
The 13.96m shot put was also good for second all-time at DU, just a week after Moretti marked 13.79m at the Akron Invitational, which is now third on the all-time list.
 
At the conference championships, Moretti led the Dukes and placed fifth with a 13.25m mark.
 
The All-Rookie teams comprise the top-rookie performer in each event from meets conducted from the start of the outdoor season through the Atlantic 10 Championships. The teams were selected based off meet results submitted through the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).
 
Moretti becomes the sixth Duquesne student-athlete in program history to be named to the All-Rookie team, joining Maria Carberry (2017), Liz Wayne (2017), Chyna Beck (2018), Hannah Seitzinger (2022), and Angela Valotta (2022). She has continued her success into outdoor season and has already claimed a meet title, as well three of the top-five marks in program history including the second-longest.
