PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne women's track & field team filled up the podiums at the Carnegie Mellon University Invite across town this weekend featuring five first-place finishes.
The Dukes won the team title recording 106 points, edging out the hosts by 10.
Reigning Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week
Madelyn Moretti got the weekend started on Friday by earning the top spot in the shot put with a 14.06 mark to reset the second-longest shot put in program history.
Rachel Koonmen posted an 11.94 in fifth place.
Sadie Wetzel cleared 1.69m to claim gold in the high jump, tying for the fourth-best mark in program history.
Hannah Seitzinger ran her way on to the top-times list in program history (5
th) with a 55.25 winning the 400m, which also set a meet and facility record at the CMU Invite.
Amy Allen was right behind with a 57.26 in second place.
Mara Whalen (2:15.46) and
Olivia Wilson (2:17.22) finished one and two in the 800m, while
Delaney Line crossed the line in 10
th with a 2:21.16.
The relay team of
Mara Whalen,
Faith Mucci,
Olivia Wilson, and
Hannah Seitzinger won the 4x400 crossing the line in 3:58.17, more than seven seconds ahead of second place.
Mary Thornton finished runner-up in the 3000m posting a 10:55.28, and
Ally Christy finished in 11:34.35 in ninth place.
Haley Hamilton earned bronze in the 1500m charting a 4:46.19, while freshman
Kathryn Saum (4:51.93) and
Ryley Schwalm (4:53.37) came in seventh and 10
th, respectively.
Serena Lalli placed third in the hammer throw, tossing a 45.57m.
Megan Penrod came in third out of 26 with a 36.55m javelin throw, as the lone Duke in the event.
Halle Walcutt (35.90m) and
Ezra Johnson-Mills (35.88m) finished fifth and sixth in the discus throw.
Anna Baxter placed eighth in the 400m hurdles with a 1:11.36.
The Dukes travel to the Colonial Relays next Friday and Saturday in Williamsburg, Va.
