PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University lacrosse team is set to open its 2023 schedule with a home game against crosstown rival Pitt on Saturday at noon ET. Live stats will be available, but there will be no stream for the game.
The Dukes were picked to finish fifth in the A-10 this season, but they come into this season with optimism towards a big season. Head coach Corinne Desrosiers enters her fifth season at the helm of the Duquesne program, helping the Dukes earn an A-10
Championship berth in 2019.
Duquesne will return sophomore
Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw, who was named the 2022 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year. Rodriguez-Shaw also earned 2022 Second-Team A-10 All-Conference Attack and A-10 All-Rookie Team honors. Sophomore
Mackenzie Leszczynski, who joined Rodriguez-Shaw on the 2022 A-10 All-Rookie Team, will be back as well. Junior

who was recently announced as Captain, is back to lead Duquesne.
The Dukes finished 2022 in fifth-place in the A-10 with an overall record of 7-10 and a conference record of 4-5. Last season opened the same way this one will, will a game against Pitt.
Last year, the Dukes fell in overtime to Pitt on Feb. 11, losing 9-8 in the first-ever matchup between the two teams.
Duquesne ended its season with a loss to Davidson, 10-7, in the first round of the A-10 Championship.
Rodriguez-Shaw led the Dukes with 43 goals, 12 assists ad 55 points last year. Her 2.53 goals per game ranked fourth in the conference and her 3.24 points per game ranks seventh.
Redshirt junior
Mady Piersielak returns in goal after a season where she ranked seventh with a 12.85 goals-against average.
Pitt went 9-10 overall in 2022 and finished 1-9 in ACC play.
