PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University lacrosse teams looks to grab its first win of the season on Thursday when it hosts the Kent State Golden Flashes at Rooney Field.
The game is set to begin at 4:00 P.M. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Duquesne and Kent State have met twice and the Dukes have won both matchups by a combined score of 37-10. Last season, Duquesne won 15-4 on the road on Feb. 20, 2022.
In their season opener, the Dukes fell to Pitt 16-10. After trailing by nine at halftime, Duquesne scored four-straight goals to open the second half. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Dukes eventually fell.
Four different Dukes recorded three points in the opener. Sophomore
Mackenzie Leszczynski and senior
Jillian Caroselli each scored a hat-trick while freshmen
Chelsea Evans and
Chloe Holmes each scored their first collegiate goals. Junior captain
Emelie Curtis tallied two points herself.
Kent State is also 0-1 after losing its season opener on the road against Cincinnati, 14-7. Kenzie Sklar scored three goals to lead the Golden Flashes while also tallying six shots on goal.
Last season, Kent State went 6-12 overall and 3-7 in conference play, eventually falling in the MAC Tournament to Central Michigan.
