Newport News, Va. – Junior guard
Tess Myers of the Duquesne women's basketball team was named the Atlantic 10 (A-10) Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Following a career and record setting day, Myers helped the Dukes go 1-1 on the week as they secured an 89-69 victory over Longwood on Thursday (12/14) before dropping a 77-61 decision at Vermont (12/16). She posted an average of 21.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting .555 percent from the floor and .444 percent from long range in a span of two games.
In a victory over the Lancers, Myers registered a career-high 35 points while shooting a career-best 66.7 (12-of-18) percent from the floor. The Lower Burrell native broke the all-time program record for most triples made in a single game with 11. Myers finished 11-of-16 (68.8 percent) from deep which is the most three-pointers made by any NCAA Division I player this season while also being the single game record for the Atlantic 10 conference. th best in program history and ranks second all-time under head coach
Dan Burt. Myers also collected five rebounds, two assists, and a block for the Dukes. At Vermont, she recorded a season-high three steals while chipping in seven points, dishing out a pair of assists and grabbing a rebound.
The North Catholic product received the honor for the first time in her career and is the first Duke to earn the award since teammate
Megan McConnell was selected last February. Myers is no stranger to letting it fly from deep as she leads the conference and sits 19
th in the country in total threes (31) while pacing the league and ranking 21
st in the NCAA in triples per contest (3.10). She's shooting it at a .403 percent clip from behind the arc and has attempted 77 shots from deep, both in which rank third in the A-10.
Myers ranks third on the team in scoring this season (10.8) while collecting 5.0 boards, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. The junior guard has finished in double-figures four times this season while hitting three plus triples in five contests. Myers continues to climb the record book as her 236 career triples and 607 attempts both sit fourth all-time in program history while her .389 three-point percentage ranks second.
