Dukes Dominate at the Red Flash Classic

Go 13-0 in rolling to title

ALTOONA, PA – Twelfth-ranked Duquesne rolled to a first place finish at the Red Flash Classic at Altoona, Pa.'s Holiday Bowl over the weekend.

DU went 13-0 in dominating the 10-team field.

The Dukes opened with traditional round wins over Wagner (899-776), Valparaiso (997-950), Pitt Greensburg (980-700), Saint Francis U (949-903) and Penn State Altoona (1157-570) on Friday.

Shannon Small (210.0), Ranelle Ulanday (205.4) and Brenna Gleim (203.2) took the top three spots in individual play, while Kiearra Saldi posted a 189.0 four-game average.

DU finished Friday with an impressive 1157-570 win over Penn State Altoona. All five Dukes topped the 200-pin mark (Small 257, Morgan Brookover career-high 245, Ulanday 236, freshman Emma Siekierski 211 and Gleim 208) as the team posted the third-highest traditional game pin total in program history.

Small's 257 vs. PSU Altoona was the high game by a Duke this year.

Duquesne's 4,982 day one pin total was 528 more than its nearest competitor.

In Saturday's baker round, the Dukes continued their impressive play with wins over Walsh (955-881), D'Youville (878-817), Walsh (994-(938), Mount Aloysius (945-592) and Pitt Bradford (912-783) to take a tournament-best 9,666 pin total (193.3) in the Sunday's championship round.

DU defeated Walsh (4-1) and Pitt Greensburg (4-0), before rallying from a 2-1 deficit to turn back Walsh once again, this time by a 4-2 count, to take the title.
