LORETTO, Pa – The Duquesne men's track and field team competed at the Red Flash Open hosted by Saint Francis this past weekend.

Members of the team also traveled to the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia on Thursday to compete.

At the Penn Relays, the sprint medley relay team of
Ian Thrush,
Isaac Elliott, Matthew Busche and Colin Ebling took ninth overall with a time of three minutes, 19.15 seconds. Their posted time was faster than teams from schools such as Clemson and Penn State.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Thrush, Elliott,
Ryan Marcella and
David Williams qualified for the finals in the event and placed fifth overall with a IC4A/ECAC qualifying time of 41.13 seconds.

At the Red Flash open,
Ryan Ellison posted a PR time and won the 110-hurdles with a time of 56.09 seconds. His time is the fastest on the team this season. He also placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57 seconds-flat.

Matthew Hurley was right behind Ellison in second place in the 110 hurdles with a season's-best time of 14.83 seconds. Both times are IC4A/ECAC qualifying times.

Gabe Sanders improved his mark in the shot put this season with a throw of 14.40 meters (47 feet, three inches) to take ninth overall in the event.

Trevor Carson took second in the 800-meter finals with a time of one minute, 57.47 seconds, while
Zack Toth was third at two minutes, 0.57 seconds.

Nick Fetzer placed second overall in the 1,500-meter run at four minutes, 0.89 seconds, with Toth right behind at four minutes, 1.01 seconds.

Anthony Litrenta finished second in the 3,000 meters after he crossed the final tape at nine minutes, 2.08 seconds.
Ben Hoffman slotted third in the heat at nine minutes, 5.66 seconds.

The Dukes will now prepare for the two-day Atlantic 10 Championships which will take place in Richmond, Virginia starting on Saturday, May 7. The event will take place at Sports Backers Stadium and be hosted by VCU.
