Dukes Place Third at NEC Meet #2

Farwell tops individual standings with a 246.14 average

MT. JOY, PA. – Duquesne rode a dominant performance from Olivia Farwell to a third place finish at NEC Meet #2 over the weekend at Clearview Lanes in Mt. Joy, Pa.

Farwell, a three-time All-American posted a seven-game total of 1,723 (246.14), 160 pins more than the second-place finisher in the two-day traditional format event.

The Dukes went 5-2 in their seven matches, which leaves them third in the NEC standings through two of three scheduled conference events:

The Dukes, who are ranked 11th nationally, lost to #9 Mount St. Mary's in their first match on Saturday (1034-1180) before rallying to defeat St. Francis Brooklyn (1010-888) and #15 Fairleigh Dickinson (1118-967).

On Sunday, DU defeated Saint Francis U (1040-910) and #17 LIU (1020-982), before falling in a tight match to #19 Sacred Heart (1037-1087). The Dukes bounced back to defeat Wagner (1014-937) in their final match.

Farwell posted games of 246, 248, 258, 243, 237, 277 and 214 on her way to a first-place individual finish. Shannon Small was also outstanding, finishing fourth with a 221.43 average.

Kiearra Saldi finished 16th (198.14), while Morgan Brookover and Jessica Sacks posted five-game averages of 188.40 and 186.80 respectively.

Ranelle Ulanday averaged 191.00 in three games bowled.

DU (47-28) will be back at it next weekend when it heads to Baltimore, Md. for the three-day James Brown Invitational at AMF Country Club Lanes on Feb. 11-13.
