The Duquesne lacrosse team will open the 2022 season with a pair of games on either side of the weekend.

The Dukes will open the season against Pitt on Friday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. at Highmark Stadium. Duquesne will then return home to Rooney Field on Monday, Feb. 14 for its home-opener against Youngstown State at 4 p.m.

SCOUTING THE DUKES
- Corinne Desrosiers enters her fourth season at the helm of the Duquesne program.
- The Dukes were picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
- Duquesne is coming off of a 4-5 campaign in 2021.
- The team will be looking to replace the contributions of its top-four goal scorers from a season ago, including leading scorer and 2021 A-10 First Team selection Rilee Bradshaw.
- Desrosiers announced her team captains in January. Seniors Maggie Flynn (Malvern, Pa. / Great Valley), Alana Piano (Brockport, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) and Kaitlin Rice (Ellicott City, Md. / Mt. Hebron) will serve as team captains for the 2022 season.
- Piano has started all 26 games of her Dukes career at midfield, tallying 10 goals, two assists, 46 ground balls, 30 caused turnovers and six draw controls in three seasons.
- A 2019 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection, Piano had seven points including six goals to go with 31 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers in her debut season on The Bluff.
- She is coming off a hat trick performance in the 2021 season finale at La Salle, her second three-goal performance of her career.Â
- Flynn has started 15 of 20 career games at Duquesne, tallying 11 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
- Rice has started 15 straight games for the Dukes, ranking second on team with 23 ground balls last season while sitting third with 11 caused turnovers.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
- Pitt is playing in its first-ever game. The program was announced in 2019 and will be playing its first season this year.
- The Panthers were picked ninth in the ACC Preseason Poll.
- Pitt's roster is made up of 15 freshmen, 14 transfers and nine returnees.
- Among the transfers is four-time Inside Lacrosse All-American Paige Petty.
- Petty joined the Panthers for her final year of eligibility after spending four seasons becoming the all-time leading goal scorer in Virginia Tech history with 204.
- The game will also mark the head coaching debut for Emily Boissonneault.
- Boissonneault was hired in 2019 to build the Pitt program after spending four seasons (2016-19) at James Madison.
- She helped James Madison win the 2018 National Championship.
SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
- Youngstown State will play its first full season after finishing 2-7 overall in its inaugural 2021 campaign.
- The Penguins were picked fifth in the Mid-American Preseason Poll.
- YSU will open the season on Friday, Feb. 11 when it hosts St. Bonaventure.
- Erin Clark and Lauren Ottesnmeyer led the team with 16 goals last season. She also led the team in assists (7), ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (14). Â
