Four bowlers cited for individual achievement

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne has been recognized with a National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Academic Team Award for its performance in the classroom in 2002-21.

It marks the fifth-consecutive season - which is every season of the program's existence - that the Dukes have posted a team GPA of 3.2 or higher fo the academic school year.

Duquesne, which had a team GPA of 3.42, was one of 59 programs honored.

In addition, four individual bowlers - Allison Hresko, Brenna Gleim, Jessica Sacks and Shannon Small - were named NTCA All-Academic scholar athletes for posting a cumulative GPA for 3.4 or higher for the recently completed school year.

Earlier this year, Gleim, Sacks and Small along with Jessica Cadez and Kiearra Saldi earned National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Scholar-Athlete Awards for maintaining a 3.5 GPA through the Fall 2020 semester.

The Dukes finished the 2020-21 season with a 35-17 record - including a 16-5 mark in Northeast Conference competition - in earning program's first NCAA Championship appearance and a No. 11 rank in the NTCA final Top 25.
