ORLANDO, Fla. - The Duquesne women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to top-seeded VCU in the Atlantic 10 Championship quarterfinal round on Thursday afternoon at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Rams claimed the doubles point with a pair of closely-contested tilts, as the duo of
Margot Pessy and
Meredith Lee fell by a score of 7-5 at the top doubles flight before
Natasha Novak and
Priyanka Mitta dropped a 6-4 decision at No. 3 doubles.
VCU would seal the victory with wins at No. 4, No. 3 and No. 1 singles to advance to the A-10 semifinals on Friday.
Daniela Latoni took the first set 6-4 and was leading 3-2 in the second at No. 6 singles before her flight was cut short for the Dukes.
Duquesne closes the season with a 7-6 overall record.
