Dukes' Comeback Bid Falls Short in 10-9 Loss to Saint Joseph's

Box Score PITTSBURGH - Duquesne used a 7-1 run to knot an Atlantic 10 matchup against Saint Joseph's at 9-9 late in the second half, but the Hawks found the back of the net with just under two minutes remaining to claim a 10-9 victory over the Dukes on Friday afternoon at Arthur J. Rooney Field. 

Duquesne honored its pair of graduate students in Rilee Bradshaw and Maddie Hart in addition to the Dukes' five seniors Carlee Braverman, Michaela Connolly, Emma EberlyJulianna Hamilton and Sydney Reed prior to the matchup. 

A slow start allowed the Hawks to build a 7-0 lead in the first 19 minutes of action. 

Duquesne ended the run with a pair of goals by Rilee Bradshaw to put the Dukes on the board. Stephanie Kelly would respond with a goal for Saint Joseph's to give the Hawks an 8-2 advantage. 

That is when Duquesne used a 7-1 run into the second half to tie the game at 9-9. Braverman, Bradshaw and Alana Piano each found the back of the net to shrink the deficit to 8-5, before Lauren Figure countered with a goal for Saint Joseph's, before the Dukes answered with four straight scores, including two by Hart, one by Jillian Caroselli and the last by Sydney Reed to even the game at 9-9 with 4:22 showing on the second half clock. 

Just over two minutes later, Kelly would score off the assist by Sam McGee with just one second on the shot clock to give the Hawks a 10-9 edge. A pair of Duquesne turnovers in the final two minutes of action sealed the win for the visiting Hawks. 

Bradshaw netted her sixth hat trick of the season with team highs of three caused turnovers and five ground balls in her final career game at Rooney Field while Hart tallied a pair of goals an an assist to go with nine draw controls for the Dukes. 

Tina St. Clair dished out two assists for Duquesne. 

Mady Pierselak made eight saves in the cage for the Dukes. 

Duquesne held a 29-24 shooting advantage including a 20-18 edge in shots on goal.
