PITTSBURGH - Duquesne head football coach
Jerry Schmitt announced the addition of 19 players to the Dukes' 2020 recruiting class on Wednesday, including two from the NCAA's Early Signing Period in December, 14 from Wednesday's National Signing Day and three mid-year transfers.
The signees hail from five different states, including 14 players from Pennsylvania, two from Ohio, one from Florida, one from New Jersey and one from Virginia. In addition, eight players are from the WPIAL.
"We are very pleased to welcome this group of young men from both today and the December early signing day to the Duquesne football program," Schmitt said. "We look forward to the contributions these talented student-athletes will make on the field, in the classroom and in the community."
Mid-year transfers
Jessie Britt (Lake Alfred, Fla. / UMass),
Joe Mischler (Erie, Pa. / Ohio University) and
Jon Muehlbauer (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Robert Morris/Mount Union) are enrolled in classes on The Bluff for the spring semester while
Donovan Stanley (Euclid, Ohio / St. Edward) and
K.J. McNeil (Richmond, Va. / Palmetto Prep) signed with Duquesne in December.

Tyler Padezan (East McKeesport, Pa. / East Allegheny),
Hunter Ruokonen (Belle Vernon, Pa. / Belle Vernon),
Evan Smith (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley),
Dan Stevenson (Philadelphia, Pa. / Saint Joseph's Prep) and
Shane Stump (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson).
"I'd also like to thank our coaches and support staff for their efforts in identifying and recruiting future Dukes who are a good fit for the program and Duquesne University," Schmitt noted. "We believe these student-athletes' work ethic mirrors our philosophy and goals here at Duquesne, and they are eager to join us on our pursuit of another Northeast Conference title."
Duquesne recorded a 6-5 overall record last season with a 4-2 mark in NEC play. The most successful program in the conference over the last decade, the Dukes have tallied 65 wins in that span, at least 10 more victories than any other team in the league. Duquesne seeks its sixth NEC title in 2020.
