PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne women's track and field team heads north east this weekend for the 2020 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Rhode Island at Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, R.I. on Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, March 1.
Bethany Evankovich owns the top time in the A-10 this indoor season in the 400-meter dash at 54.27, while sitting fourth in the 500 meters (1:15.57), fifth in the 60 meters (7.72) and sixth in the 200 meters (24.87).
Maiah Yankello, who earned A-10 Track Performer of the Week honors following her performance at the Kent State Tune-Up last weekend, ranks eighth in the conference in the 800 meters (2:13.37) and ninth in the 400 meters (56.37).
Maris Seto is second in the conference in the high jump this season with a mark of 1.71 meters as well as fourth in the league in the triple jump at 12.09 meters.
Gabby Holmberg is right behind Seto at fifth in the event at 11.77 meters while
Chyna Beck is 10th at 11.40 meters.
Amberly Valeriano ranks fourth in the league in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.69
Emily Brozeski sits seventh in the A-10 in the pentathlon after tallying a score of 3,170 at the Penn State National Open.
In addition,
Megan Aller is ninth in the 1,000 meters (2:55.11) for the Dukes.
Duquesne's 4x400-meter relay team of Yankello, Holmberg,
Kel-Lisa Sebwe and Evankovich holds the second-fastest time (3:45.39) in the event in the conference this season also set at the Penn State National Open
Duquesne earned a sixth-place finish at last season's indoor championship highlighted by
Shannon Taub garnering Most Outstanding Field Performer honors for the Dukes. She registered a second-place mark in the heptathlon, shattering the school and meet record with a score of 3,812.
Evankovich took home a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash (55.02) while placing fifth in the 200-meter dash (24.80) and eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.86). Evankovich was also part of Duquesne's 4x400-meter relay team with Yankello, Holmberg and Sebwe which took bronze in the event at 3:47.47.
VCU won its third-straight A-10 title in 2019 followed by George Mason second and UMass third.
Saturday's action gets underway at 9:20 a.m. with the pentathlon hurdles and Sunday's events begin at 9 a.m. with the high jump final. The full schedule can be seen below.
