NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Duquesne senior
Maiah Yankello (Monaca, Pa. / Central Valley) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Track Performer of the Week for her performance at the Kent State Tune-Up, conference officials announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Yankello paced the field in the 400-meter dash for the Dukes with a time of 56.37. This represents the ninth-fastest time in the event in the A-10 this indoor season. Yankello also owns the eighth-fastest time in the 800-meter run at 2:13.37 set at the Penn State National Open in January and is part of Duquesne's 4x400-meter relay team which holds the second-fastest time in the event in the conference this season set at the Penn State National Open, as well.Â
She becomes the second Duquesne track & field athlete to garner A-10 Performer of the Week honors this season, joining
Bethany Evankovich (Edinboro, Pa. / General McLane).Â
Yankello and the Dukes travel to Kingston, R.I. this weekend for the 2020 A-10 Track & Field Championships hosted by Rhode Island at the Mackal Field House. The action gets underway this Saturday, Feb. 29.Â
