Diamond Bragg Granted NCAA Waiver for Immediate Eligibility

The Wisconsin transfer is eligible to compete this upcoming season

PITTSBURGH Duquesne women's basketball transfer Diamond Bragg has been granted an NCAA waiver to be immediately eligible for competing starting with the upcoming 2020-21 season. Bragg, a 5-9 combo guard, transferred to Duquesne in April after spending two seasons at the University of Wisconsin from 2018-2020.

"I'm beyond excited to have the opportunity to play this season," said Bragg on being granted the waiver. "We have been working extremely hard for months now and it's such a relief to be cleared. I can't wait to be in uniform alongside my incredible teammates this weekend."

Bragg, a native of Camp Hill, Pa. just outside of Harrisburg appeared in 50 games for the Badgers over the past two seasons. She posted career-best marks of six points and three assists against Alabama State a season ago.

As a senior in high school, Bragg averaged 22.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game at Camp Hill. She was a three-time all-state honoree and was recognized as Penn Live's 2017 Female Athlete of the Year. Bragg helped the Lions to consecutive district championships and was a Miss Pennsylvania finalist during her senior season. She finished her high school career with 1,775 points, the second most in Camp Hill history.

"Diamond is the definition of a student-athlete," Duquesne women's basketball head coach Dan Burt said of the Wisconsin transfer. "Her professionalism like focus, skill level and work ethic have made an immediate impact in our program. We are very happy with the NCAA decision and expect Diamond to help us reach our team goals this season."

Bragg will join a talent-filled backcourt that includes 2020-21 Atlantic 10 Preseason First Team selection Libby Bazelak, Amanda Kalin (10.1 ppg.) Amaya Hamilton (G/F, 6.4 ppg) and Kiersten Elliott (.423 3-point FG%). Halle Bovell, Anie-Pier Samson also return after missing the majority of 2019-20 due to injury. Additional newcomers that are guards include, Ny Langley (JUCO Transfer) Megan McConnell and Tess Myers. Caroline Elliott and Machela Simmons also look to be factors at the position.

The Dukes open the 2020-21 season at #20/22 Ohio State on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
