Duquesne (1-0-1) hosts VMI (0-2) on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the third of five consecutive home matches to open the 2019 season. The Dukes, who have been idle since their 1-0 win over Oakland on Sunday, opened the season with a 1-1 2OT draw with Bowling Green last Friday. The VMI game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

THE SERIES VS. VMI

• This is the first meeting between the Dukes and Keydets.
• VMI was picked to finish seventh in the Southern Conference preseason poll.
• Duquesne is 2-0 all time vs. school's in the current SoCon, including a 2-1 OT home win over Belmont on Sept. 25, 2010 and a 2-1 win over Wofford in the Duquesne Invitational on Sept. 9, 2016.

• Duquesne has surrendered just one goal on 44 shots (15 on goal) through two matches.
• Senior goalkeeper Robbie McKelvey was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 3, after making 14 stops vs. Bowling Green (6 saves) and Oakland (8 saves). The eight saves vs. Oakland were one shy of his career high.

McKelvey started 12 of the 13 matches he played last season (1151 minutes). Landry was lost for the season due to a preseason foot injury.
• Busquets (11 points, 4 goals) and Dymond (7 points, 3 goals) were DU's top returning point-getters and goal scorers from last season. Hall and Kappelsberger (both 5 points, 2 goals) were next. Dossantos was the only other returnee with a point last year (2 points on one goal).
• Hall leads all returnees in career games (51) and starts (47). Landry, who is out for the season (foot injury) was next at 45 and 39. No other returning field player entered the season with more than 16 games played (Dossantos, Kappelsberger & Zech at 16 each).
• The Dukes have 11 first-year players on the 2019 roster including nine freshmen (including one redshirt) and a pair of transfers in junior F Jack Shearer (St. John's) and junior F Waleed Charif (West Liberty). Shearer, a native of Aliquippa, Pa., played in 35 matches with 26 starts in two seasons at SJU.
