From The Pitch

- The Duquesne University men's soccer team returns to Atlantic 10 play Saturday, hosting Davidson at 7:00 p.m. at Rooney Field. The Dukes sit in fourth place in the conference standings with nine points, one behind Fordham and Saint Louis, as each own a 3-1-1 mark in the A10, and three points behind Rhode Island (4-1).

- In its last outing, Duquesne dropped a 2-1 decision at No. 7 Pitt (10/13). Redshirt senior Ashwin Menon gave the Dukes a 1-0 lead with his second goal of the year at 7:49, but the Panthers scored twice in the second half to earn the win.

- The Dukes improved to 3-1 (.750) in Atlantic 10 play and stayed unbeaten at home (4-0-1) in their last conference game, a 3-1 victory over Dayton (10/10) at Rooney Field. Falling behind early, 1-0, Duquesne scored three unanswered goals en route to the win.

- Senior forward Cody Da tallied five points in the win over the Flyers, registering a brace and an assist. He opened the scoring for the Dukes and tied the contest, 1-1, at 36:09 before providing an assist on the eventual game-winning goal from redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin just over two minutes later.

- Da would seal the triumph in the win over Dayton with his team-high fourth goal of the season at 66:55 and for his efforts was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week (10/12), sharing the honor with Maksim Kalina of Rhode Island.

- Prior to the win over the Flyers, Duquesne posted a 2-1 victory at George Mason (10/3). The Dukes scored twice in the final 15 minutes to secure the come-from-behind win.

- Garnering the equalizer for Duquesne in the win over the Patriots was redshirt senior Ashwin Menon, who collected his first goal of the year at 76:46 on a feed from sophomore Jameson Michel. Less than 10 minutes later, a sliding Ofek Sasson connected on a pass from Roni Badler and found the back of the net at 87:27 to propel the Dukes to victory. It marked the first NCAA Division I goal for the junior.

- Redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin is the active leading scorer at Duquesne with 29 points courtesy of nine goals and 11 assists. He has started 44 of his 54 career games on the Bluff over the last four seasons.

- In addition to scoring his first goal of the 2026 season in the win over Dayton (10/10), Ervin also registered an assist. Ervin is the sixth different member of the Dukes to register a game-winning goal this season, and his strike against the Flyers marked the second game-winning goal of his career.

- The Dukes are led by head coach Chase Brooks, who is in his 14th season leading the program in 2026. Brooks has compiled an overall record of 102-96-31 (.513) at Duquesne and is the program's all-time leader in coaching victories. In his 16th year as a head coach overall, Brooks has posted a mark of 124-102-40 (.541).

- Duquesne established a new program record with 11 consecutive wins at Rooney Field over the course of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, while its eight victories at home in 2024 is a school record. The Dukes own a mark of 35-6-7 (.802) at Rooney Field since the beginning of the 2021 campaign.

- The Dukes travel to Olean, N.Y., to take on St. Bonaventure Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6:00 p.m. after hosting Davidson.

Defensively Speaking – Despite giving up a pair of goals in the second half Tuesday to No. 7 Pitt (10/13), the first time all year an opponent has scored multiple goals in a game, the Duquesne defense remains one of the top in the country. The Dukes own a team goals against average of 0.73, which leads the Atlantic 10 and is tied for 10th in NCAA Division I with Seton Hall out of the Big East. Duquesne is also tied for 19th in the country in save percentage at .810 with UMass Lowell of the America East. The fulcrum for the Dukes has been redshirt senior goalkeeper Sam Coss, a two-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week who has played all 990 minutes for the Dukes and sits 11th in NCAA Division I in goals against average (0.73) while sitting 27th in save percentage (.795). Coss is tied with Devin Armstrong of Seton Hall and Wyatt Dupell of Le Moyne for 11th in the country in goals against average.

Level Up – Senior Ashwin Menon and junior Ofek Sasson each found the back of the net in a 2-1 victory at George Mason (10/3), with the goal for Menon the third of his tenure on the Bluff and the strike for Sasson the first of his NCAA Division I career. Duquesne has had eight different student-athletes convert this year after redshirt senior Jaxon Ervin collected his first goal of the 2026 campaign in a 3-1 victory over Dayton (10/10). The Dukes have also had 16 different players register on the scoresheet through 11 games. The aforementioned Ervin owns a team-high three assists after posting one on the first goal of the game for Duquesne in the win over Dayton and is one 10 players to have scored at least two points this year for the Dukes.

All In The Family – Looking to add to the lineage as a scorer on the Bluff has been forward Cody Da, who notched his first brace for the Dukes as part of a five-point effort in a 3-1 victory over Dayton (10/10) that kept Duquesne unbeaten at Rooney Field. Da is the younger brother of former forward Jayden Da (2021-23), who in three seasons with the Dukes compiled 20 career points thanks to eight goals and four assists. The elder Da appeared in 46 career matches at Duquesne and was named to the 2023 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team after a campaign in which he finished with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Jayden Da was also the first student-athlete in program history to be selected in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft, presented by Adidas, when he was selected by the Columbus Crew with the 29th pick in 2023.

Tip of the Cap – Thanks to the performances for Duquesne in its first two games of the year, a pair of student-athletes garnered weekly honors from the Atlantic 10. Junior forward Marko Rasmussen was selected as A-10 Offensive Player of the Week (8/24), while redshirt senior goalkeeper Sam Coss was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week (8/24). Rasmussen scored a pair of goals in the win over Bowling Green (8/23) after entering this season with two goals in 26 career games on the Bluff. Coss, meanwhile, earned a pair of clean sheets in the first two games of the year, becoming the first Duquesne goalkeeper to turn the trick since 2022. Coss owns 31 saves through the first 11 games of 2026.

One – Since the beginning of the 2021 campaign, the Dukes own a record of 36-16 (.692) in one-goal matches. Included in that stretch is a 20-5 (.800) record in such games at Rooney Field and a 16-11 (.593) mark on the road. Six of the last seven games for Duquesne has been decided by one goal, with the Dukes 3-3 (.500) in those contests.
