Pittsburgh, Pa. – Senior forward
Cody Da of the Duquesne University men's soccer team was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week Monday. In collecting his first career weekly accolade with the Dukes, Da shares the honor with Maksim Kalina of Rhode Island.
In a
3-1 victory over Dayton (10/10) that improved Duquesne to 4-0-1 (.900) at Rooney Field this season, Da scored two goals and assisted on the game-winning strike to accrue five points. The Flyers had grabbed the early lead before Da found the equalizer at 36:09, taking a pass from senior
Chris Philibin and tapping the ball into the lower left corner of the net to tie the game, 1-1.
Less than two minutes later, the Dukes were awarded a set piece. Senior
Pepo Bravo fired a ball that was knocked down, and Da was able to corral it in a hunt for a shot. Instead, Da found redshirt senior
Jaxon Ervin, who skirted one past Dayton goalkeeper Santino Inkpen at 38:19 to give Duquesne a 2-1 advantage. It marked the first goal of the 2026 campaign for Ervin, the program's active leading scorer with 29 career points.
Da would cap the victory, the first for the Dukes over the Flyers in 20 years, in the second half, taking a long outlet pass from junior
Dan Banks, beating three defenders and unleashing a shot that found the bottom right corner of the goal at 66:55 to settle the scoring. Da is the second student-athlete for Duquesne to be selected as A10 Offensive Player of the Week this season, joining forward
Marko Rasmussen, who
garnered the honor August 24, 2026.
Through 10 games, Da leads the Dukes in scoring with nine points thanks to four goals and an assist. He has started one contest but has appeared in all 10 matches and has compiled 13 shots, including five on frame. Da is one of six different players for Duquesne this season that has notched a game-winning goal.
Led by
Chase Brooks, in his 14th season as head coach of the program, Duquesne travels across town to face off with No. 10 Pitt Tuesday, Oct. 13, in a 7:00 p.m. match at Ambrose Urbanic Field. The Dukes enter the contest with an overall record of 6-2-2 (.700), including a 3-1 (.750) ledger in conference play.
