CHARLESTON, S.C. - Duquesne running back
A.J. Hines (Wilson, N.C. / Fike) has been named to the College Football Performance Awards 2019 FCS Performer of the Year Award Watch List, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.
Hines was one of 40 players to earn a spot on the list and one of two players from the Northeast Conference recognized along with Sacred Heart running back Jordan Meachum.
Hines was also recently named to the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award watch list for the top offensive player at the FCS level in addition to garnering preseason All-American accolades from STATS FCS, Athlon Sports and HERO Sports.
Last year's NEC Offensive Player of the Year and 2016 Jerry Rice Award winner enters his senior campaign leading all active FCS players with 3,849 career rushing yards and 38 career rushing touchdowns. He finished with 1,520 rushing yards and 15 rushing scores last season, helping the Dukes capture their fifth NEC title and advance to the FCS Playoffs Second Round for the first time in program history.
The CFPA FCS Performer of the Year Award winner will be announced January 15, 2020.Â
