AUGUSTA, Ga. - Duquesne's Mitch MacZura (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Central Catholic / Ohio State) has been named to the preseason watch list for the inaugural Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Punter of the Year Award. The award is presented by the Augusta Sports Council which is also home to the Ray Guy Award which honors the nation's best Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) collegiate punter each year. 

MacZura has served as the Dukes' starting punter for the last two seasons, garnering All-Northeast Conference honors in 2018. He set a new single-season school record with 2,439 punting yards. MacZura placed 16 punts inside the 20-yard line and forced 14 fair catches on the year. He also recorded three punts of 50-plus yards on the season for Duquesne.

Also an all-conference selection as a placekicker for the Dukes, he finished 9-of-10 on field goals, registering 71 points on the season.

MacZura was recently named to the NEC's preseason all-conference team for Duquesne.

MacZura and the Dukes open the 2019 campaign on Sept. 7 against Walsh at 4 p.m. at Arthur J. Rooney Field.
