PITTSBURGH - For the second time in as many weeks, Duquesne's
A.J. Hines (Wilson, N.C. / Fike) was named to a preseason All-America team as the senior running back garnered Athlon FCS Preseason All-America honors on Tuesday morning.
Hines earned HERO Sports FCS Preseason All-America laurels last week, as well.
One of just six returning players from last season's Athlon FCS Postseason All-America Team, Hines is also just one of two running backs mentioned along with Illinois State's James Robinson. Athlon was one of five organizations to recognize Hines as an All-American following a standout junior season.
He closed out the year third in the FCS with 1,520 rushing yards and sixth in the country with 15 rushing touchdowns.Â
Hines enters his senior season first among active FCS players with 3,849 career rushing yards as well as 38 career rushing touchdowns.
The reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Offensive Player of the Year and Walter Payton Award Finalist ranks second in program history in rushing touchdowns and third in rushing yards. He has tallied 20 100-yard rushing performances in three seasons for the Dukes.
