TEMPE, Ariz. - Duquesne's Julianne Herman has earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cisse Leary Sportsmanship Award for the Atlantic Region, the organization recently announced.

The Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship goes to a Division I women's tennis player who displays inspiring dedication and commitment to her team, which has enhanced her team's performance and exemplified the spirit of college tennis.

The award dates back to 1997 and is in memory of the late and widely-admired Penn women's tennis coach Cissie Leary.

Herman recently concluded an outstanding career on the court with the Dukes, finishing as the second winningest player in program history. She posted a career record of 184-44 with a 91-18 mark in singles play and a 93-26 ledger in doubles action. A four-time all-conference performer, she was named to the Atlantic 10 First Team in each of the last three seasons after being named Second Team All-Conference as a freshman in addition to being named to the A-10 All-Rookie squad.

As a senior, Herman posted a 21-3 singles record, including an undefeated mark in conference play. She played her entire career at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions for Duquesne in addition to No. 1 doubles.

This marks the second straight season in which a Duquesne player has garnered the Cisse Leary Award as Kylie Isaacs earned the award last year.
