NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Duquesne's
Julianne Herman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Archbishop Ryan) and
Priyanka Mitta (Mobile, Ala. / Fairhope) both collected Atlanitc 10 weekly honors for the Dukes, conference officials announced on Tuesday afternoon. Herman was named the Co-Player of the Week while Mitta earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Herman went 4-0 in a pair of victories for Duquesne over the weekend, improving to 18-3 in singles action this season with two wins at No. 1 singles to go with two triumphs at No. 1 singles to boost her record to 17-8 on the year. She has collected five straight victories in both singles and doubles action for the Dukes.
The Philadelphia native returns to her hometown for the final weekend of the regular season ranking second in program history with 177 total wins, including 88 singles victories and 87 in doubles play.
Mitta went 3-0 during the week, collecting a pair of doubles win as well as a singles victory for Duquesne's two non-conference triumphs. The freshman picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles vs Carnegie Mellon to go with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles against the Tartans. Mitta also won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles in the Dukes' 4-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's.
Herman, Mitta and the Dukes travel to Philadelphia to face off with Saint Joseph's (April 12), George Mason (April 13) and La Salle (April 14) this weekend.
