Preview: @DuqLax vs. Penn State

GAME NOTES
  • The Dukes (8-6) return home to host intrastate foe Penn State (5-7) out of the Big Ten on Tuesday, April 16 at 3 p.m. at Arthur J. Rooney Field.
  • Duquesne is coming off a pair of Atlantic 10 wins over the weekend, defeating George Washington 20-9 on Friday afternoon before collecting an 18-5 triumph at St. Bonaventure on Sunday.
  • The matchup, which was originally scheduled for Feb. 20 but was postponed due to inclement weather, will be the Dukes' final non-conference contest of the season. Penn State still has another non-conference game against Stony Brook on April 23.
  • Duquesne and the Nittany Lions have met in seven straight seasons since 2012. PSU owns a 7-0 advantage in the all-time series.
  • The Dukes, who have doubled their win total from last season under first-year head coach Corinne Desrosiers, are seeking their ninth win for the first time since 2016.
SCOUTING THE DUKES
  • Maddie Hart ranks sixth in the country in ground balls per game (3.36), ninth in draw controls per game (7.21) and in caused turnovers per game (2.5).
  • Sydney Reed is eighth in the nation in caused turnovers per game (2.57).
  • Rilee Bradshaw sits 17th in the country and second in the A-10 with 48 goals.
  • Bradshaw has scored 26 goals in the last six games, ranking second in the A-10 in goals in conference games.
  • The Dukes continue to pace the country in shots per game (41.64) and shots on goal per game (30.5) while ranking second in caused turnovers per game (15.21), third in ground balls per game (24.29), fifth in scoring offense (16.93), seventh in draw controls per game (16.71) and ninth in points per game (23.64).  
SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
  • Following a 4-3 start, the Nittany Lions have dropped four of their last five, all against ranked opponents (No. 12 Michigan, No. 2 Maryland, No. 5 Northwestern and No. 8 Virginia). PSU's win came in a 21-5 victory over Ohio State.
  • All seven of the Nittany Lions' losses have come against ranked opponents this season.
  • Kayla Brisolari leads the B1G with 1.67 caused turnovers per game while goalie Taylor Suplee is second in the conference with 9.83 saves per game. 
  • Quinn Nicolai paces PSU with 23 goals on the season, netting at least two goals in seven contests this year.
  • Ninth-year head coach Missy Doherty has helped the Nittany Lions to seven straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including back-to-back Final Fours in 2016 and '17. Penn State also advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2012, '13 and '15.

  • The Dukes host La Salle in the regular season finale on Saturday, April 20 at noon at Rooney Field. Duquesne will honor its seniors prior to the pivotal showdown with postseason implications.
