NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Duquesne freshman
Margot Pessy (Normandy, France / Universite de Rouen Normandie) garnered Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week accolades for her performance over the weekend, conference officials announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Pessy clinched a pair of victories for the Dukes over A-10 foes Saint Louis and Dayton with a 6-4, 7-5 win over the Billikens followed by a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over the Flyers, both at No. 6 singles. She posted a 1-1 mark in doubles play in the matches, including a 6-3 win vs. SLU.
She becomes the first Duquesne player to earn Rookie of the Week honors since
Julianne Herman collected seven A-10 Rookie of the Week nods in 2016.
Richmond's Lea Owens was named Player of the Week while St. Bonaventure's Andrea Roque was also named A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week.
Pessy and the Dukes travel to Olean, N.Y. to face St. Bonaventure this Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m.
