PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne women's track and field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule with the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Gesling Stadium.
The Dukes registered nine first-place finishes at the meet, including four from
Bethany Evankovich who placed first in the 100-meter dash (12.70) and 200-meter dash (25.38), the 4x100-meter relay (47.8) with teammates
Amberly Valeriano,
Chyna Beck and
Kel-Lisa Sebwe as well as the 4x400-meter relay (3:56.63) with
Gabby Holmberg,
Maiah Yankello and Sebwe.
Valeriano paced the 100-meter hurdles (15.22) as one of her three first-place finishes while Yankello finished first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.16)Â for Duquesne.
Sebwe (400-meter run / 59.45),
Rachel Valotta (1,500-meter run / 4:44.45),
Danielle Hinish (5,000-meter run / 18:47.77) and Beck (100-meter hurdles - 15.53) each placed second in their respective events.
Brooke Hutton recorded a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:51.22), as well.
On the field side of the meet,
Maris Seto won the high jump (1.68 meters), Valeriano the long jump (5.54 meters) and Holmberg the  triple jump (11.33 meters). Beck added a third-place mark in the triple jump for the Dukes.

The Dukes will head back to CMU for a quad meet next Saturday, March 30 at Gesling Stadium.
