PITTSBURGH - Duquesne sophomore guard
Tavian Dunn-Martin (Huntington, W.Va./Huntington) was named the Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year and freshman point guard
Sincere Carry (Solon, Ohio/Solon) earned a spot on the conference's All-Rookie Team, as part of league-wide postseason awards announced today.
Honorees were selected by a vote of the A-10's head coaches.
Dunn-Martin is just the third player in school history to win the sixth man award, joining Kevin Forney who earned sixth man honors in 2003 and
Tarin Smith, who won the award last year.
The first-year Akron transfer, who is averaging 8.0 points and 2.5 assists in just under 21 minutes per game, ranks second on the team in assists with 78 and third in 3-pointers made with 47. He has hit three or more 3-pointers in a game - and scored in double-digits - eight times.
Dunn-Martin stepped up to average 19.3 ppg. in four games (including three starts) Duquesne was forced to play without an injured Carry. He scored 22 to help DU rally from a 19-point deficit to win at George Mason and added 30 - including seven 3-pointers - to help the Dukes come back from 11 down to defeat UMass.
Carry, a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, ranks first among the nation's freshman in steals per game (2.5) and fifth among freshmen in assists per game (5.8). A starter in all 27 games he's played, Carry leads the A-10 in assists and ranks second in the conference in steals per game. He was Duquesne's second-leading scorer in conference play at 13.4 points per game.
Carry, who has scored in double digits 18 times to go along with six games with eight or more assists, is the second player in two seasons under head coach
Keith Dambrot - joining teammate
Eric Williams Jr. - to earn All-Rookie Team honors.
Seventh-seed Duquesne (19-12) faces tenth-seeded Saint Joseph's (13-18) in the second round of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The game will be televised by NBCSN.
