NEWPORT NEWS, Pa. - Duquesne junior
Laurel Shymansky (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
This is Shymansky's second A-10 Player of the Week honor this season as she also earned the accolade on Jan. 30.
She helped the Dukes top Davidson for the first time in program history on Saturday night by a score of 4-3. Shymansky earned a 7-6 victory in the third set at No. 2 singles after saving three match points for Duquesne. She also added a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles with teammate
Julianne Herman.
Massachusetts' Janja Kovacevic was also named A-10 Co-Player of the Week while her Minutewomen teammate Jodie Lawrence-Taylor earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Shymansky and the Dukes return to action this Sunday hosting George Washington in A-10 play at 1 p.m. at Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh.
